Breckon Hill Community Centre was created with funding from the European Regional Development Fund and the National Lottery. Built in 2004 the centre is used to deliver a range of community services which are aimed at educational, recreational and social activities.
The Community Centre is managed by a charitable organisation made up of 10 local residents who dedicate time to ensuring the services within the centre responds to local community needs.
The staff and volunteers have built an outstanding reputation of working in partnership with many private and community sector organisations to ensure local needs are met. With a unique approach to community development the centre remains a hub within the community and engages with over 300 individuals each week
The staff team consists of:
Amanda Buck – Centre Manager
Amanda has managed the centre since the doors open in 2004 and has previously managed community buildings in rural and urban areas. Amanda is currently managing Breckon Hill Community Centre and the Langridge Initiative Centre both situated within Middlesbrough.
Damian Buck – Employability Officer
Damian is responsible for delivering employability services. This includes identifying training needs which can be delivered within the facility and exploring employment opportunities.
Marion Thompson – Cleaner & Caretaker
Marion prides herself on ensuring the centre is warm, clean and maintained to a good standard. Cleanliness is key to ensuring the centre is welcoming.
Sue Anderson – Tutor
Sue has been part of the team since 2014 and has brought a new approach to improving mental health and well being into Breckon Hill. Sue delivers the 3 Principle’s of Mind, Thought and Consciousness.
